Wo-Zha-Wa Run FAQ's
Q. What does Wo-Zha-Wa mean?
It's a Ho-Chunk term meaning "festive times" or "to have fun"!
Q. Are the courses certified?
No, they are not certified but they were measured using bicycle with a Jones Counter Assembly 34 years ago when the current half-marathon and four mile courses were set up. That was the standard for accurate measurement at that time. (Hey, it's an old race.)
Q. Can I check in the night before?
Sorry, no early check in.
Q. Can I register the day of race?
Yes, but you really don't want to do that. It's $70 bucks. You can register online for $50 at Active.com on Friday night until 9:00pm. Save yourself $20 bucks and us some hassle by registering in advance...please.
Q.What about water stations?
Water only, no Gatorade. Water at 1/1/2, 3, 6, 9, & 12 miles in half marathon. 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 on four mile.
Q. When will results be posted?
Results will be posted at the race site as soon as they are available. They will be posted on this website by Monday morning.
Q. Is this event a fundraiser?
Technically no. But we do make donations to those groups that assist with the race. Over the past six years we have donated over $15,000 to groups that include the Dells X-Country Club, Dells School District, and other organizations.
Q. Will there be food at the Post Race Party?
Yes. Otto's will have a limited sandwich menu including roast pork for purchase. Beer and soda is on us as long as it lasts. Party starts at 1:00pm.
Q. Where is the Post Race Party?
At Otto's Supper Club about 3 miles from the High School. Take Hwy 16 East toward Portage. It's on the left at the intersection with County O.
Q. What Dells attractions are the passes for?
The following have generously provided passes to finishers of this year's race: Dells Boat Tours, the Original Wisconsin Ducks, Tommy Bartlett's Water Show, Tommy Bartlett's Robot World, and Pirate's Cove Adventure Golf. Passes are good WZW weekend and until June 30, 2018.
Q. Will photos be posted on Flickr again this year?
I have a photographer who will be taking photos at random and they will be posted to Flikr by Monday or Tuesday. They are free to download and covered under Creative Commons so help yourself for personal, non-commercial use.
